Martinmas Time 7″

Hello,

So, the first single from the Folk Songs album will be a 7″ of Martinmas Time, backed by a non album track - Nottanum Town.

This is a limited edition of 300. Each with individual hand made sleeves. Gulp. I’ve asked some of my Fife pals to help, as has Mr Green of The Big Eyes Family Players. So - you may get a cover that my gran has made - or one KC has made. Or me. Orr My Dog.

Was the vehicle stolen from craggy island parrochial parish??

    Hi James.
what’s with the “No children allowed” thing in Edinburgh??? My kids (14 and 15 are gutted that they can’t come see you now the venue has changed to the voodoo rooms. Wonder how many other of us parents won’t be leaving our offspring home alone to come hear you? What a shame…

    Hello Shona,

I’m sorry about that. Hmm. As you can imagine, I don’t actually have a great deal to do with booking the venues and such - I’m surprised to read that the original venue allowed under 16s. Anyway, I asked the booking agent and they said:

“Yes every licence is different depending on what the council allows and the Voodoo rooms is 16+ only. Unfortunately this one is out of our hands. I’m really sorry though hadn’t expected a lot of under sixteens to be honest. They will be able to get a refund if they go back to Ticketweb.”

So - I hope that helps in that you’ll get a refund. Sorry you won’t make the show though. Unless your children suddenly & surprisingly turn 16 the day before the gig (!) Even if they revert to being 14 & 15 the day afterwards…

    Hi James,
thanks for the reply. Sadly we were told they would be asking for ID so can’t get the children in whatever disguise they came up with. i guess it relects this country’s approach to young people generally. Wonder if gig/event organisers have any thoughts about how young people get their musical interests if not by exposure to the music!
hope you have a good gig - will try to persuade my husband to go anyway although he’s furious about being told he needs to apply for a refund and leave the children at home.

Why a Chalkhill Blue? You only get them down south… why not a fife butterfly?

    Hello Tom,

Put simply, the song isn’t based in Fife.

    Cheers,
